memorial weeknd

well this weeknd was both good and bad. ill start with the good first which has nothing to do with poker haha. on friday i went out drinking with some friends which was pretty fun there wasnt that many people out most likely because it was memorial weeknd but none the less it was still a good time talk to a few girls but nothing interesting. on saturday i went to my friends house and hung out for a bit it was super hot (80 degrees) i live in alaska so that temp. in ak in may is crazy but we sat in the sun and i washed my truck and i got a little sun burnt haha then that night i was invited to a camping party about 165 miles away and was considering not going but i changed my mind and went which ended up being a great decision. the group that she had was about 10 people all together they were all pretty cool seeing how i only knew her but that didnt matter to much and once the sky turned dark around 12am there were about 3 other groups throwing parties too so we all kinda combined into one big camping party there was probablly 50 or 60 people there so it was a pretty fun night. sunday was kinda a lazy day as well as monday which was a prime time to put in some hours on pokerstars which is what im doing now. as for the poker on the weeknd thats actually the bad part to my weeknd i played probablly 300 hands on friday and saturday each friday started off crazy i was getting sucked out on left and right nothing was seeming to go right. then i hit a little heater and was able to break even for the day. as for saturday i was able to win a a little before it turned on me hard i lost 6 buy ins on a pretty bad down swing before i started this blog i just started taking a shot at .10/.25 with a bankroll of 300 i ran it up to 350 before the downswing which braught me down to 200 so i went back down to .05/.10 games. they arnt hard games to beat they just take a little time. im at 220$ now so hopefully in a couple weeks i can take another shot at .10/.25 ive beatin those stakes before but when you get sucked out on and hit a downswing its a little difficult but its part of the game. makes it interesting i guess. as far as my game goes im going to make a couple improvements first off i need to increase my 3 betting percent in position just a little bit and so far its been showing to be an ok decision. next i need to start laying more hands down when i bet on the river and the opponent raises. id say that 90% percent of the time they have the better hand so thats deffinitely a thing i need to start doing. and the biggest things i can think of that i need to improve on is when i am on a winning session. it seems that whenever i start getting decent and regular results i tend to not play my a game i slack off a bit and stop trying as hard as i should. ive notcied my self do it plenty of times and its a huge leak in my game that i need to fix. thats part of the reason why i started to lose this weeknd was cause it seemed like i was starting to beat it fairly easy so i slacked off which obviously was a bad decision but im ready to start doing somthing about it to improve my game. by the way i know my spelling isnt totally up to par but i try anyways lol. other than that the weeknd was a pretty good one so ill finish my poker session today which will probablly be another6 or 8 hours and hoefully i can get a little somthin somthin goin

addition

heres an addition to the previous blog, i pretty much made myself look like a degenerate gambler in my first blog lol. although i can admit im addicted to poker i am no where near a degenerate. ill give you my goals and thaughts about it. first i have a really good job in an operators construction union so i work almost the whole summer with not that much time off i do play poker for a couple hours after work or if i get the weeknd off or somthing like that. and in the winter i usually work 2 to 3 months and sometimes if the work is slow not at all. so plenty of time to play poker in the winter. i give myslef a set bankroll every year like i said in the first blog and follow that strictly i move up and down limits accordingly on how well my bankroll is or isnt doing. as far as my goal in poker i dont dream off making it big and being a multi millioniare. i want to be able to play the game i love and be a winner at it. now as to how much money i win only time will tell. also im not just some guy playing poker thinking that hes going to win as i stated i am down about 3700$ as of two years of playing. i know that to win at poker nowadays you have to be constantly learning new things looking for edges and finding ways to be able to win money. of course poker has the luck factor but over time as my game improves more and more i know luck will not be such a factor and skill will come into play. as for improvment, i am always looking to improve my game wether it be thinking of new stratagies and going over the hands i recently played or thinking of new approaches to the game i am constantly looking to improve my game. i can also see a huge improvement in my game from when i first started playing and i am sure that i will continue to improve. and with that improvment i believe i will become a winning player. im not going to give up just cause i had a couple years of bad playing just starting out and learning the game it can only get better, and if i end up being a losing player then theres a saying that i can go by and it says : id rather lose at somthing i enjoy, than be a winner at somthing i hate. poker is my passion it might be and addiction that i am aware of but i deffinitly have it under control and i am very passionate about it and love the game for what it truely is which is competition and when you get a table of talented players together you can really see the intilectual process that goes on in every hand they play its a numbers game, athinking game, a personal game, a stratagey game, and so much more and thats why i love the game...its like playing chess for money lol except there some luck thrown in there. so besides that i plant on doing a couple posts a week at least and hpefully i can start getting some followers to get some comments going :)

my begining introduction

well im starting this blog to further my poker learning experience and to recap my play and get any comments to keep me learning as i travel the poker road. well to give you a bio about my self and poker history im 22 i turn 23 in november i started playing poker on pokerstars when i was 19 after watching it on television for about a year prior to that. i started playing play money tournaments and did really well (not suprising) then when i turned 21 i went to las vegas for my birthday and played in about 5 or 6 tournaments there all around 300$ i did ok in one it had 360 entrants and i made 16th wich payed 900$ but overall i went home down about 1500, that vegas trip was also the first time i had played in a cash game i only played 3 times and lost twice. when i got home i started playing for real money on pokerstars. i first started with 500$ and was playing tournaments and sit n gos, well that didnt last long and i decided to start playing double or nothings and eventually lost another 500, while i was playing the double or nothings i played a guy that was a super nova elite and asked him how he got to be it and he sayed playing cash games. so i deposited 1000$ and went to cash games. i started at .50/1$ ( i didnt know anything about bankroll managment at the time) and i quickly fell to 700$. i think i told myself if i lost the 700 i was going to be done but then i hit a heater and ran it back up to 2000. i struggled learning the game but i definetly learned a lot, eventually i started losing and wasnt concerned about moving down in stakes when i should have and i learned from that mistake as well i moved down to .10/.25 when i had about 500 left and then lost there too. so i moved down to .05/.10 and started seeing results. i decided not to buy any more chips except for once a year around november and i would buy 2000$ for a year of playing. well a year came and i went from 200 to 300 so i baught 2000 in chips and started back at the .50/1$ tables. between that time i read a couple books evaluated my play and did a lot of learning. i started out the year horrible and ran pretty shitty my first week and by the time the month was over i droped down to .50/1$. and for anyone reading this .50/1$ on stars is pretty intense-9max anyway. its got about 6-9 regualrs at every table and almost all of them 24 table and use poker software like hud and things like that which gives you statistics on a player. i guess its part of the online poker game though. i dont use any software and i multi table 4 tables. anyways while i was playing .25/.50 i learned a lot about the game and everything that goes along with it and actually beat that level. i went back and forth between those limits a couple times before i hit a really shitty month and had to drop down 3 limits. im a totally different player than when ive started im able to read situations, think of plays, make big laydown and big bluffs and im a lot more wise with my bankroll. im currently playing at .10/.25 and im doing ok it seems to take a while for me to keep things going up though. anyways ill try not to make this post too long since its my first one but thats about the legistics of my poker background up to now
