newyork trip recap
alright fellow degens heres the low down on the newyork trip. overall it was a damn fun time and a great experience with plenty of fun and enjoyable memories but heres the details.
so me and my two friends met up in the seattle airport and hung out for a couple hours before our plane boarded. since we booked our flight a little late we all had different seats which wasnt a big deal. it was a 6 hour flight to newyork which was ok but a little tiring and then we arrived in the jfk airport. after getting our luggage we got a taxi to manhattan. the cabi was a pretty decent guy and kinda gave us a little explanation of the areas we were passing. our hotel was litterally about 1/2 a block away from the middle of time square, it was called crowne plaza. it was a pretty nice hotel and was satisfied with staying there. when we first arrived we got to the hotel at about 4 and after putting our stuff away we hit the streets to check out the town. we ended up checking out a couple unique stores like m&m world and the hershey factory as well as the ripleys believe it or not showcase. the next day we decided to check out a little bit of central park than we went to the top of the empire state building and baught some tickets for a concert on friday. tuesday we ended up checking out grand central station and than did some shopping.
after everyday we always ended the night usually checking out the town and finding things to do. i think we ended tuesday night with a movie at the movie theaters. wednesday we went back to central park to check out more of the park and afterwards we went to the central park zoo. which supprisingly wasnt that great of a zoo as i expected it to be. if youve seen the cartoon movie madagascar (no judging) its nothing like what the movie represents.
that night we ended up going to a stand up comedy club where we laughed our asses off for a couple hours. thursday we did some more shopping and we watched another movie at the theaters. friday me and my one friend went to the concert but my other friend didnt want to go so he stayed at the hotel.
the concert was actually pretty fun. the artist was called lights. shes from canada and my friend had been into her music for the past couple years and shes actaully got some good music and the concert was well worth it. saturday we did some last minute shopping and just kinda relaxed and enjoyed the time in the city. sunday we were scheduled to leave at 6pm. it turned out to be the only day that rained so when we checked out at 12pm we called it a trip and headed to the airport. the weather for the whole trip was pretty much awesome except for the last day. when we first for there it was 85 degrees and then the rest of the days were mostly 70 degrees. the flight home was a little long but we made it and now im back in alaska. currently i have got an apartment in downtown anchorage set up but i dont move into it untill the 3rd.
its a little bit more than what i was looking to spend but trying to find a furnished place in anchorage is difficult to do and since its in the perfect location for where i want to be, its ok. i have looked at a few cars since ive been here and might buy one tomorrow so i will pretty much be set up. i might be starting work in about a week, and i am dredding it a little bit but after about a couple weeks of work i should be fine and back into the grove of things.
now for pickup... so i actually did some pickup while i was in new york. i think i did about 5 or 6 approaches and 2 of them went really well. although i wasnt able to get any nubers i was able to run affective game and realized how far i had improved in the last month. the night of the concert was memorable though. me and my friend were there and we ended up running some game on two younger girls. which ended the night with making out and dancing. my friend must have pursued his girl too much because she wanted to leave but my girl was totally interested in me but oh well.
so my one friend had just recently split up with his girlfriend. me being his friend for a long time, i knew the type of person he is and i know he would be good at pickup. one night on the town i told him all about it and he was really interested and intrigued. ive introduced him to a lot of knowledge to pickup since that night and now im starting to teach him a little bit and we will be wingman which will be cool because ive got big plans for this summer. also the day i got back into alaska we went to the mall to get my friend some shoes and i saw a girl so i approached her. the interaction went pretty well and i took her on a instant date for a smoothie and the ended with a phone number. i felt really strong about how that interaction went and totally thaught it was solid. well i texted her the past 2 days and no reply so guess i was wrong. kinda wierd though ive gotten numbers to where i totally think they are going to flake and they come through and than the opposite where i totally think the girl wont flake and than she does. just goes to show nothing is set in stone.
right now i feel im on top of my game and at the highest ive been. there is still so much room for improvment but things are going really well. also this next summer and winter will be a defining point in my life in terms of success with money. i will have a chance to make/win the most money i have ever had so im excited for that. everything is going smooth and life is good i just hope i can make it through this season with out breaking so that this winter will be awesome in florida. anyway, untill next time cosmonauts. stay tuned :)

talk about over exceeding
alright guys lots to talk about so buckle up.
i think i posted about 5 days ago and with in that time there has been some very interesting turn of events, mostly dealing with poker. so in my last post i said that my winter goal this time was to make 20k in 6 months and the last time i posted i had 18k and it had only been 4 months so things were going really smooth. well i was hoping i could make another 2k just so i could reach my goal but i would be fine with my results if i didnt. anyways this is how this last week has gone. i think the first day after i posted last week i ended up making 1000 which was pretty awesome the next couple days i broke even which was a little lame but no biggie the next day i was down a couple hundred and decided to do the nightly tournament that they hold. you have 12k starting stack with 20 minute blinds and starting level is 100/200 its an ok tournament for the first couple rounds but after that it turns into a crapshoot pretty much. anyways the tournament had 105 people and i was able to make it to 12th before busting out money paid at 10th :( so the main hand that decided my fate went like this everyone folded to the button and he bet 2x the big blinds with about a 10bb stack, i had about a 13-14 bb stack in the bb, the small blind folded and i picked up 9 10 of clubs. now at this stage everyone is fighting to pickup the blinds and i knew that the guy was kinda tight but i still know he was buying for the blinds and felt if i shoved here he would fold most of his holdings and if not i still had a decent hand with equity. so i shoved and he sighed and called and showed k 10 off, its been a while since ive played tournaments but i think that was a bad call. anyways he held up and i had like 2 big blinds left or somthing the last hand to do it was when it folded around the the button and he shoved and i called with kj of spades and bb also called and then the button called bb had kq off and button had A10 kq ended up catching his card on the river to knock both of us out and so i ended the tourney on the bubble pretty much. 1st place took 1800 so i feel confident in thinking that i could have won if i won that pot with the 9 10 of clubs.
anyways that brings us to yesterday. to cut to the chase i had my second best day of poker since playing and this is what went down. i actually started off the day a little bad and was down 400 in like 2 hours. and then i was able to double up and had a stack of 1000, after the next 8 hours i got smacked in the face by the deck repeaditly and kept getting paid off and i was making big value plays and getting paid.
at that time i had 2k infront of me and the night was only half over. i kept winning and at the end of the night at the point of each section on my castle i had a green stack all the way up which would have made for a better picture. so last night i made 2200 and ended my winter with a profit of 21,800$ which i am hyped about. add those winnings to my winnings last winter and i now have a bankroll of 34,500$. needless to say i couldnt have ended any better and im looking forward to next winter and getting into 5/10nl
after that me and a couple friends went out to the club in the casino to cellebrate my last day and started kicking back the drinks i ended up hitting on a couple girls and one of the girls was into me because she started qualifying herself to me. i didnt persue it though cause i was having fun with my friends. at about 2 am i was very very drunk and stepped out of the club and went to the bathroom where i threw up lol i walked outside and threw up a couple more times. im a light wieght as you can see. so i made it to my truck and drove home and crashed....haha jk i did go to my truck though and i passed out for about 7 hours or so. woke up hungover as fuck and headed home. i get suuuper bad hangovers which is one of the reasons i dont drink that often anymore. after getting home i had consitant trips to the bathroom where i would throw up even more. after about 5 hours of being home i was able to start drinking water and eat a little bit. at this point i had to do some last minute cleaning before i moved out and i had to try and get done before 9 which is when the storage place closes and i couldnt park my truck before i head to the airport. i ended up finishing my apartment off at like 8:50 and headed to do a last minute errand and then headed to the storage place. i got to the storage place at 9:20 and had to call the people to beg them to let me in. i felt bad cause they are an elderly couple and they were asleep already but they are nice people and let me in. after that i called a cab to head to the airport. the cabbi was actually a pretty cool dude and we talked a lot about poker and everything inbetween, pretty much just a cool dude. so now im at the airport still hungover and i have about 6 hours before my plane boards and im off to newyork for a week, then after that im flying straight to alaska.

nearing the finish line
alright so this last week has been a little mediocre but it could have been worse.
ill start with poker since it will be the easiest to talk about. well my mom came to visit me so i didnt play thursday-saturday so it was a short week for poker but thats ok because this whole week was pretty much a breakeven week. i think im down like 200 or somthing like that. its a little frustrating because this next week is my last week here and it would be cool to leave on a winning note but ill take breaking even for the last few weeks over losing anytime. today had a sweet touch to how it has been going too. i was able to make 1000$ in 8 hours and then that 9th hour i lost 900 when all my big hands came up second best...fun so yeah pretty much how the last few weeks have been going but no biggie. i have about 4 or 5 more sessions left so there might be a little magic left.
this last week was a little interesting for pickup. since today is easter i didnt go out today cause everything was closed and on saturday i went to downtown seattle to run daygame on the streets. ive only done a few approaches on the streets so the experience was pretty new to me but i ran game for about 7 hours and did 10 approaches. i actually really like street game after doing it. especially on a nice day which saturday was. i also learned a lot this past weeknd and saw myself progress a bit so its going ok. most of the approaches i did went ok i only really got into a good conversation with 3 of the girls but everything else was pretty smooth, pretty much just a numbers game after that. that is one thing that im looking foreward to when i get back up to alaska is from may-july it will be a good opportunity to run a lot of street game downtown especially when all the tourists are there, add the fact that i will have an apartment that will only be a few block away from central downtown and it will be a good time, im looking foreward to it. so this is probablly going to be the last weeknd in washington that i will be runnign game unless i put time aside to do it which i probablly wont. when i go to newyork for the week i might actually try and do some approaches there if i see the opportunities but im not going to set anytime aside to just run day game. and thats about it for pickup untill i get to alaska.
the life aspect has a couple things on the agenda. well like i said my mom visited me for a couple days which was cool and i entertained her for a little bit. also tonight i just started packing up a couple things in my apartment and im getting things ready for when i move out. i plan on packing all my stuff up on thursday and then late saturday night or early sunday morning i will go to the airport and just hang out untill i board my plane for newyork. my apartment is pretty easy to pack up. although while i was here i got a new couch and a 55inch tv so that adds a little bit more baggage but it shouldnt take more than a few hours to move everything out of my place. once i have it in storage everything might sit there for the next year and a half or more because if the plans stay good than i will be moving to florida next winter and i will keep my stuff here and just rent a furnished place there. but whenever i do settle down i have all the stuff i need to furnish my place so its cool. anyways thats about all just got this last week left in washington and then it onward ho. so untill next time cosmonauts, stay tuned
